Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a 3000-year-old healing
art that has been practiced extensively in China to treat
physical imbalances. In the past 50 years acupuncture has gained
popularity in the US as a safe and effective, natural alternative
to medication.
The purpose of acupuncture is to balance the
Qi or energy systems of the body. When there is balance then there
is physical health as well as peace, energy, vitality and love.
An important component of treatment is to take the whole person
into consideration. The practitioner does not just treat the current
symptoms, but looks deeper to attempt to discover the root of the
condition.
Acupuncture is an integral part of Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM includes acupuncture, Chinese herbal
medicine, cupping, moxa and other therapies. TCM theory provides
a unique means of diagnosis and is the foundation of creating an
effective treatment. Once a TCM diagonsis has been made then very
fine needles are inserted into specific points on the body to treat
the particular imbalance. Herbs and other therapies may be used
to augment the treatment.
TCM has been successfully used to treat the following
conditions: Infertility, menstrual cramps, PMS, menopausal symptoms,
dysmenorrea, indigestion, morning sickness, miscarriage prevention,
headache, carpal tunnel syndrome, depression, anxiety, hypertension,
addiction, allergies.
